What are your thoughts on Radford? Do you know how many they returned from last year? From what I heard they played a good Pulaski Co. team tough Friday night. Also that the game was a lot closer than the score (19 to 7) was. Looks like a pretty decent schedule they have too. How will they match up with Gretna?

Could win Region C. I'd like to see how they fare against GW and Gretna before declaring them the favorites. Pulaski will probably win the River Ridge again, saying that I hate watching them play. I've seen them twice in person and both times I felt they under used their talent. Much like GC, Pulaski really can't blow out a good team by the offense they run.

A win is a win...blowout or not. I'd rather win 14 games by 1 point every time than win the first 13 by an average of 42 and lose the last one by a point. One thing to consider...PV's first 3 titles were won by a point each...so even if the Offense isn't pretty, who cares...if that's your best chance to win, that's what ya should do. GC is on to somethin here. You don't have to be flashy to be successful.

I think what pvfan is tring to say is that that ball control type offence can keep you in games vs better teams and give yourself a shot to win in the 4th.......On the flip side it can also keep a lesser team in a ball game with you and give them a shot in the 4th where 1 busted play wins the ballgame (think GC 01 and 02 playoff runs)

That's how it is with any offense..I've always been of the school of thought that more bad things can happen when you attempt to pass the ball vs. running it. When you pass you can have a fumble on a hit on the QB, a sack, an incompletion, an interception, a fumble after the catch by the WR, or in some cases a reception for a loss. If you're running it the only bad things that can happen is a fumble or a run for a loss. It cuts down on mistakes to play ball control..and IMO doesn't do any more to keep your opponent in the game than any other offense does..just ups your chances of success if you do it well.

It cuts down on mistakes, I agree. I don't care much for that kind of offense, it's in my opinion you better be damn good. And by damn good I mean be able to beat everybody by two plus scores to win the state title. At some point you will fumble the ball and your whole offense is designed on taking 6 minutes or more to score, you can't climb out of a whole. It's the evolution of the sport, the spread and it's variance are how the game is played today. There is a reason that only one team in the past 5 years at the single A division 2 level has won it all running something other than a spread variant and that team won by one point.

It shortens the game and the shorter the game the more likly that 1 big play will be the differance.

To me it is like running the stall in basketball if you are over matched it is a great tactic that will make the whole ball game come down to the last few mins of the game......However if you fell you are the better team you would not want to sit on the ball becouse while a lesser team may go on a run it is likley that the better team would prevel through regular play


GC played great and the ball controll O was just what the Doc ordered vs Richlands but would you want to keep a team like Lee (who is not at the GC level) in the ball game and give there RB a shot at breaking one in the 4th for the win?


That is exactly what happened to GC in the 01 or 02 playoffs (can't remember now)

Right, my biggest problem with playing like GC and Pulaski do is losing to teams you shouldn't. I fully believe the 02 GC team was better than the 03 team, they just got to conservative.
